You will be aware that the General Election will take place
on 7th May 2015.
Following the dissolution of Parliament today I am no longer
the MP. I am a Parliamentary Candidate for the Paisley &
Renfrewshire North seat. Depending on the area of the
constituency you live in, there are Members of the Scottish
Parliament (MSPís) directly elected in the constituency who
will be available to you as usual for advice surgeries
during the election period. You can contact the Scottish
Parliament, Edinburgh EH99 1SP Tel: 0131 348-5000 for
details on how to contact them. Your Local Councillors will
continue to hold surgeries as normal. For details of your
Local Councillorís Surgery, you can contact Renfrewshire
Council on 0300 300 0300.
If I am successful at the election, I am re-elected
immediately as your MP, to continue representing the Paisley
& Renfrewshire North Constituency in Parliament. I will then
obviously carry on where I left off and get on with any
outstanding constituency casework.
If I am not re-elected, all electronic and hard copy records
will be destroyed. The House of Commons authorities have
advised MPs not to pass on live casework or details to a new
MP, except in circumstances where explicit consent has been
given by the constituent. In that event, you will need to
write to me before Monday 11th May, 2015, giving consent.
Otherwise you will need to contact the new MP to explain
your concerns once again.
I hope this helps to explain the situation during the period
of the dissolution of Parliament.
It has been an honour to represent Paisley & Renfrewshire
North in The House of Commons.
With very best
